A man has died after a traffic collision in Peckham this afternoon.
The pedestrian passed away at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. He has not yet been named by police.
Emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance, raced to Peckham High Street after reports of the collision shortly before 1pm.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12:56pm today (8 January) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on High Street, Peckham.
“We dispatched an ambulance crew, two medics in cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.
“With the first of our medics arriving in under three minutes.
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance by air.
“Sadly, despite the efforts of medics, a man died at the scene.”
The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area while the cordon remains in place.
