A man hospitalised after being found with gunshot injuries at an address on Walworth’s Mina Road is in a ‘critical condition’.
Today, a Met spokesperson said: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service at 12:20hrs on Wednesday, 31 October to reports of an injured man at an address at Cuxton House, Mina Road, SE17.
“Officers, LAS and London’s Air Ambulance attended.
“At the scene a 48-year-old man was found with a gunshot injury.
“The injured man was taken to a central London hospital where his condition is critical.
“Next of kin has been informed.
“Officers from Southwark investigate.
“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”
Witnesses report seeing the Air Ambulance trying to land in Surrey Square gardens.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: “We were called at 12:16pm yesterday (31 October) to Mina Road, Elephant and Castle to reports of an incident.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an incident response officer and an ambulance crew. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”
