Following a report of disorder on Southwark Park Road, where a man had his face slashed this afternoon, the police have now sent out an appealing for information after ‘a large group males were fighting on Hawkstone Road’, near Southwark Park.
Scotland Yard have said at around 4:42pm officers became aware of a large group of males fighting in the Hawkstone Road area.
Officers worked to separate the groups with support from the Mounted Branch.
At this early stage, there have been no arrests.
But the detective leading the investigation has said they are looking into a video circulating online that has ‘elicited shock and disgust’.
Detective Inspector Darren Young, of the South Central Command Unit, said: “The behaviour of those involved in this incident is nothing short of disgraceful and those involved can be certain we will be working to identify them.
“We are aware of the video circulating online, which has quite rightly elicited shock and disgust.
“We are looking at it and urge anyone with information that could assist police to call 101 referring CAD 5117/26 Jan.”
As the News reported earlier officers rushed to Southwark Park Road at 4.31pm this afternoon to find a man in his 20s suffering from a slash wound to the face.
He is currently being treated by London Ambulance Service, but officers confirmed that his injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Police also said “another male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply”, but that his arrest is not connected to the male suffering the slash wound.
He has been taken into custody.
Officers remain in attendance and added that a ‘shop front is believed to have been damaged following an altercation between a group of males’.
