A vaccination van offering walk-in Astra Zeneca jabs for the over 40s will be based at East Street market this Saturday.
The van will be based near the East/Street Dawes Street Junction off Walworth Road from 9am to noon on Saturday, August 7.
First and second doses will be available, as long as there has been a minimum of eight weeks between each injection.
Attendees do not need any proof of address, immigration status, ID or an NHS number to attend.
Cllr Evelyn Akoto, Southwark Council’s cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Rates of COVID-19 are still worryingly high as we wait to see the full impact of restrictions being lifted.
“There’s just no way to know how the virus will affect you or your loved ones, so we need all adults to get the vaccine to protect themselves and each other.
“We continue to work closely with our healthcare colleagues and community representatives to create more convenient ways for residents to come forward for the jab, whether that’s walking into your local pharmacy or while you do your shopping at East Street Market this Saturday.
“No appointments are needed, first and second doses are available, and anyone over 40 years old can attend – so even if you have previously turned down your invite to get your vaccine, you can turn up on Saturday morning to have your first dose.”
Dr Nancy Küchemann, GP and governing body member NHS South East London Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Walk-in vaccination appointments like this make it quick and easy to get your vaccine as you can simply turn up on Saturday morning to have yours.
“Staff there will also be able to help answer queries you have about the vaccines if you are unsure.
“I would encourage everyone to take up the offer of a vaccine as it’s been heart-breaking as a GP to see the impact of COVID-19 on so many of my patients and their families in Southwark and it’s important that as many of us as possible are protected against this deadly virus.”
