The AHOY Centre in Deptford is hosting a number of fun water challenges this summer including a row on the English Channel, writes Simon Throssell…
Boats of six will navigate their way through one of the busiest shipping lanes from Dover’s Marina to the boundary with French waters in a gruelling 23-mile round trip.
There will also be a gentle sunset sight-seeing kayak across the Thames for people wanting something more relaxing.
No previous experience is necessary and the centre will provide full equipment and training.
There will be something for everyone with each challenge focusing on team bonding, building life skills, developing self-confidence and working as a community.
Money raised from the events will support the centre’s work in providing disadvantaged, at-risk and disabled people in the community with opportunities and training.
