A woman was assaulted while walking in Nunhead Cemetery last week.

Police say an unknown man grabbed the victim from behind, at around 1:20pm on Tuesday, October 20.

Inspector Tom Cornish, from Southwark Police, said: “Thankfully and bravely she screamed and the suspect walked away.

“The woman was unharmed but obviously very shaken up.”

Detectives are now investigating the incident and supporting the victim.

Southwark MPS confirmed there are ‘several lines of enquiry.’

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time should call 101.
