Southwark police are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was violently assaulted and groped in a “horrible attack” earlier this month.
The woman in her early twenties got off the 133 bus from Brixton to Borough at around 3.45am on October 4. As she reached Harper Road, Bermondsey, she was struck on the head from behind and groped by a man.
She fought off her attacker, shouted at him and escaped to meet a nearby friend. Her attacker fled the scene and the woman was treated at hospital for facial injuries. The attacker is described as a white man, approximately 5’6” tall, with a shaved head and wearing black clothes.
Detective Carri Blackman from Southwark CID said: “This was a horrible attack on a young woman. Fortunately she managed to fight off her attacker, otherwise this could have been even worse. We are extremely keen to identify her attacker as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
