Dulwich Hamlet produced a sensational second-half performance to come from 2-1 down at half-time and defeat Ebbsfleet United 5-2 at Champion Hill last weekend.
Tyrone Sterling equalised for the Hamlet after Alfie Egan had given the lead to the visitors who then went into the break in front following Jack Paxman’s 42nd-minute goal.
Gavin Rose’s side were a place behind Ebbsfleet In National League South before the fixture but roared back in the second period in front of a sell-out 3,334 crowd.
Jordan Green’s goal in the 59th minute was followed up four minutes later by Darren McQueen who gave Hamlet a 3-2 advantage.
Dulwich sealed three points when Giovanni McGregor added the fourth in the 81st minute and Andrew Harris-Sealy scored in the last minute for the top scorers in National League South.
The result moved Dulwich above Ebbsfleet into third, with 28 points from fifteen games, two points behind Oxford City and three off table-toppers Dartford.
This win underlined Dulwich’s progress this season, against a side that had ex-Charlton defender Chris Solly on the bench, though former Millwall left-back Joe Martin missed out through injury.
Dulwich had three former Ebbsfleet players in their team and another, Danny Mills, on the bench.
But it was an ex-Hamlet player in the Fleet side who first threatened. Ben Chapman thought he should have had a penalty after being taken down by Jordan Higgs.
Chike Kandi has the first real chance for the hosts when he shot just wide of Chris Haigh’s post in the fifteenth minute.
The home side took the lead in the 26th minute when Craig Tanner caught Dulwich by surprise and found Egan who took a touch before firing past Dulwich goalkeeper Charlie Grainger.
Dead-ball specialist McGregor almost equalised in the 32nd minute but his strike from a free-kick cracked off the crossbar and and Quade Taylor fired well over from the rebound.
Dulwich made it 1-1 seven minutes before the break. After Chapman was booked for fouling Green, the Dulwich player went past Rakish Bingham to cross for Sterling who headed home.
Grainger saved from Tanner as Ebbsfleet responded strongly before the away side regained the lead when Egan crossed for Paxman and he nodded home.
And Dulwich could have been 3-1 down heading into the break only for Will Wood’s fierce effort to slam off the crossbar.
Grainger then tipped over Bingham’s drive as the Fleet again threatened to add their lead.
But, roared on by that huge home crowd, Dulwich cranked up the pressure and drew level when Green got into a shooting position before he drove past Haigh into the far corner.
The action was relentless. Former Leeds and AFC Wimbledon forward Dominic Poleon almost restored his side’s lead but Grainger saved at his feet.
Moments later the Hamlet went in front, ex-Fleet McQueen on hand to finish after a blocked shot fell to him in the box.
The visitors had another penalty claim when Egan went down under a challenge from Andre Blackman. Tobi Adebayo-Rowling was booked for his protests at the non-award of a spot-kick.
Dulwich all but wrapped up the win ten minutes from time when McGregor ran at the away defence before beating Haigh with a low drive.
Ebbsfleet tried to respond again but were denied when Grainger cleared up at the feet of Poleon.
Dulwich fans had one more treat left when their side counter-attacked and Harris-Sealy scored their 35th goal in fifteen league games this season.
