DULWICH HAMLET capped a momentous week for the club by coming from behind on the road to draw 1-1 at league leaders Billericay Town on Saturday.
After the news this week that a deal had been brokered to return the Hamlet to Champion Hill, Gavin Rose’s side faced a daunting task at a side that were promoted with them from the Isthmian League Premier Division last season but one with a vastly higher budget.
And the home side took the lead in the nineteenth minute through Ross Lafayette and held that advantage to half-time.
Hamlet have shown so much resilience on and off the pitch in the last year and there was yet more reserves of will to call on as they sought an equaliser. It arrived with 21 minutes left, Nathan Ferguson earning his side a point.
Dipo Akinyemi was sent off late on, but this was another impressive demonstration of Hamlet’s fight and they are fifteenth in their first-ever season at this level.
