DULWICH HAMLET’S Preston Edwards was in danger of having his car towed away from Imperial Fields on Thursday night – while he was playing in goal against Crystal Palace.

After two announcements requesting that the owner of a car blocking an emergency exit move it went unheeded, a third warning came over the tannoy.

At which point Edwards, who was having a busy night against Roy Hodgson’s Premier League side, turned to the crowd and shouted “that’s my car!”.

Luckily for Edwards, the car was eventually moved by someone in the crowd.

It wasn’t quite all’s well that ends well, as Hamlet lost 5-0 to a Palace side with the likes of Scott Dann, Martin Kelly and Jason Puncheon in their starting line-up.

But it was a crucial fundraising fixture for Hamlet, who are playing in Mitcham with the dispute with the owners of Champion Hill still to be resolved.
