Dulwich Hamlet dropped out of the National League South play-off places after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Hungerford Town last weekend.
Ronnie Vint equalised early in the second half but the Hamlet were always on the back foot against a side that leapfrogged them into eight with this win.
Dulwich had won on their four previous visits to Bulpit Lane and were boosted by the permanent arrival of Vint, who was partnered in midfield by another new signing, Jamaica international Luca Levee.
Wycombe Wanderers’ Adam Leathers was on the bench as he started a one-month loan deal.
The visitors fell behind in just the fourth minute. Jake Evans delivered a free-kick into the six-yard box where Matt Berry-Hargreaves headed home.
Crusaders keeper Luke Cairney then almost created a second as he ran out of his box to pick up a loose ball before sending a long pass that released Ryan Seager into the box at the other end, but Nathan Harness denied the hosts.
It was all the home side and Seager found Rhys Tyler who trickled a shot past Harness but Quade Taylor saved his side.
Dulwich were fortunate to go in just a goal behind at the break and Hungerford were ruing their missed chances when Vint made it 1-1. Gio McGregor’s corner was mis-kicked across the goal and Vint bundled in.
But it took Hungerford just two minutes to go back in front.
Hamlet failed to clear the ball properly and Seager surged into the box before going around Harness to fire home.
McGregor offered the Hamlet their best chance of getting something from the game but other than a free-kick that was blocked the away side didn’t threaten a leveller.
Instead, Hungerford added a third as Cairney hit a long pass down the right that found Seager who went into the box before squaring the ball for Evans to beat Harness at the ear post.
Levee had welcomed new signing from Harbour View FC. The 24-year-old, who was born in Kingston, was called up to the Jamaica squad last year and made his debut against the USA in March 2021.
He has also featured for the Reggae Boyz at youth level, including at under-17, under-20 and under-23s at the Pan American Games in Peru.
Levee began his career at Jamaican side Real Mona, before moving to Spain. He spent three year at Valencia and several other youth academies in the Valencia area.
He returned to North America where he played at high-school level in Massachusetts. He then went to the University of Maryland and made a total of twelve appearances for the university’s soccer team, The Terrapins.
Levee signed for Harbour View, who compete in the top flight Jamaica National Premier League, in 2019.
The Hamlet are back at home this Saturday when they face Chelmsford City. Kick-off at Champion Hill is 3pm.
