DULWICH HAMLET have signed a player that would put even Peter Crouch in the shade – funded by their supporters.
Crouch, 6ft 7ins in his socks, played for Hamlet almost 19 years ago and is still going strong in the Premier League with Burnley at the age of 38.
Hamlet don’t lack for height in their squad, with Magnus Okuonghae and Michael Onovwigun standing at 6ft 3ins, but even they will be craning their necks introducing themselves to their new team-mate: goalkeeper Simon Bloch Jørgensen, who stands half an inch under 6ft 11ins.
Jorgensen started his career with FC Copenhagen in Denmark and has had spells at Accrington Stanley and Whitehawk.
Kristof van Hout, a goalkeeper who plays for Westerlo in Belgium, is thought to be the tallest professional footballer in the world at 6ft 10ins. On their Twitter account on Thursday morning Hamlet claimed they had signed the most vertically superior player on the planet.
The signing of Jorgensen, 26, was funded by Hamlet’s 12th man scheme.
