SCEFL First Division Stansfeld 2 K Sports 4 STANSFELD SLUMPED to a second successive defeat away to table-toppers K Sports to slip to thirteenth in the SCEFL First Division table.
Stansfeld took the lead twice but three late goals denied them. Stansfeld started brightly on the artificial surface and had the better of the opening exchanges with Billy Shinners and Billy Jolley both going close with long-range efforts.
The early pressure was rewarded in the 23rd minute when Harry Gamble slotted home after good work from Jake Williams. Stansfeld nearly doubled their lead a few minutes later when Shinners beat the offside trap but was stopped by the K Sports goalkeeper who was well alert to the danger.
Against the run of play, K Sports were on level terms in the 30th minute, when Bailey Peace netted from close range. Despite the set-back, Stansfeld were still pressing forward before half-time. After the break the game was more even with both sides on the offensive. Stansfeld regained the lead in the 61st minute with top scorer Shinners heading home from a Michael McKenna cross. McKenna then almost increased the Stansfeld lead in the 70th minute but his effort was well saved by the K Sports stopper.
K Sports piled forward and got their reward with a quick-fire brace in the 78th and 80th minutes through Josh Brown and Richard Butler. With time running out, Stansfeld were unlucky not to level with both Williams and Joe Borland hitting the woodwork.
And K Sports made sure of the points in the 90th minute as James Alderman finished off a cross from close range to give the scoreline an unjust look. Stansfeld Reserves got back to winning ways, defeating Lewisham Athletic 2-1 away.
