Millwall Lionesses have been booted out of the Women’s FA Cup – after fielding ineligible players.
The Lionesses defeated Whyteleafe 6-3 in the preliminary round on September 1, but two of the victorious side “were not registered correctly in accordance with the rules”.
Following a Football Association tribunal last week, Whyteleafe have been given a walkover and will face Worthing in the first qualifying round this Sunday.
An FA spokesperson told BBC Sport: “An FA Women’s Football Board Sub-Committee has removed Millwall Lionesses LFC from the Women’s FA Cup.
“The club was found to have breached Women’s FA Cup Rule 15(i)(i) as two players were not correctly registered in accordance with the rules.”
The Lionesses are in the sixth tier of the league structure this season after their board broke away to form London City Lionesses in the summer.
