Super-sub Lily Agg admits she overcame less than ideal pre-match preparations to inspire Millwall Lionesses to a thrilling 3-2 away victory over Durham on Sunday.
Amelia Pereira gave the hosts a first-half advantage before Rinsola Babajide netted her first Women’s Super League goal to equalise for Millwall after the break.
Agg then came off the bench to turn the game with two goals and although Beth Hepple replied, the Lionesses held on for their first league victory of the season.
The super sub said: “I’ve been injured leading up to the game, against Arsenal I had to come off at half-time because I’ve had a bad hamstring.
“And then I’ve been away in Spain with my University on tour, so it wasn’t the best preparation. I wanted to come on at half-time but Dan Mlinar didn’t think I had it in me.
“When I did get on, he said I needed to get in behind their centre-backs and look to spin them. Luckily I got in twice and scored.”
The Lionesses now have a two week break before they return to action with a trip to Watford Ladies on Sunday April 19.
