Millwall’s unbeaten start to their league campaign came to an end last Friday when they fell to defeat against Reading Ladies.
Two goals from Emma Follis plus a Harriet Scott effort were enough for Reading to take all the spoils on the night.
Millwall had begun their campaign with a seven game unbeaten streak but were brought back down to earth with a bump by the Royals, who shook off the absence of England star Fran Kirby.
Lionesses defender Naomi Cole said: “They proved why they are top of the league at this stage of the season.
“They are strong, attack-minded side and they showed that with three quality goals. “We know we can play better than that. It’s unfortunate for us as we’ve gone seven games unbeaten and we’ve kind of given them this result a little bit; credit to them they did play well but we feel we let ourselves down.
“We feel we can get close to the likes of Reading but they showed their quality. We knew we were in for a fight today and we just didn’t quite step up.” For the latest Lionesses news visit millwall.fawsl.com.
